Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Cinder is the first book I read for 2016! Well that was a great start!

Greek edition

This is the first book out of four books (6 if you count the two novellas) from the Lunar Chronicles Series written by Marissa Meyer! All of them are retelling of famous fairytales, Cinder being a retelling of Cinderella. I really love fairytales and I wanted to start reading the series but didn't expect to like it that much!

Queen Levana
Cinder is a mechanic and a cyborg, which means she has robot parts due to a surgery she had in order to survive from an accident she has no memories of. Neither her life before it! She lives in New Beijing which is the futuristic Beijing after World War IV. Though the war is over many years now a new threat is on the horizon. Her city as well as the whole planet deals with a deadly disease called letumosis and the evil Queen of Luna from the moon threatens to start a new war. Prince Kai has to make the wisest choice for the good of his people. This book is full of secrets and twists that makes it a really interesting retelling!

Prince Kai

I really liked Prince Kai. He is not a distant ruler and he really cares about his people. He could even sacrifice himself in order to save them.  It was a challenge imagining him being Asian as the most of the books I've read take place in the USA. But I really liked that because I also love Chinese ancient history and tradition.

Cinder
Cinder is a fierce cyborg! Even if she is supposed to be a low-class citizen and a property of her step-mother, that doesn't stop her for trying to help her step-sister Peony and find the truth. The attraction between her and Prince Kai comes so natural! Even though she obviously have feelings for him she knows that this could be impossible! There are so many things dividing them! Well, that's a real relationship struggle!! Also isn't it so cool to be able to stream the news and download whatever you want directly in your mind?

It was a quick and fun read and the ending was really good! I was glad to finally start this series and can't wait to continue with the sequels and see what's going to happen to both of them and Queen Levana.

I rated this book with 4 out of 5 stars!
