Tome Topple Wrap Up and War Storm by Victoria Aveyard - book review!

Hey guys! These last two weeks were so much fun reading War Storm during the Tome Topple Readathon! If it wasn't for the readathon I wouldn't have finished it, or wouldn't have started it being such a huge book to be honest! Hahaha!!!

So let's move to the book review part!
This is the forth and final book in the Red Queen book series. It is a young adult fantasy - dystopia series. So be sure to stay updated with the previous books before reading War Storm.

In general, it was a satisfying read! It had both adventure and action. It starts right after the events of the third book where Cal chose his throne over a free king-less country and his future with Mare. As you may imagine, the alliances in this book is something that constantly changes and you never now whose side everyone is! There definitely were some plot twists and turns, nothing too unpredictable though.

The beautiful writing style and the characters are what kept me through this series. In this particular book I was quite surprised by characters that I used to hate in previous books. And I am talking about Evangeline! Like WHAAAT?? Never expected that!
Lines I would never imagine to come from Evangeline:
I need a gravitron.
I need a newblodd.
I need Mare and her storms to light these bastards up.

Actually, this is a multi-perspective book, where the story is told by Mare (of ourse), Evangeline, Iris (Maven's wife), Maven and Cal. I quite enjoyed everyone's point of view and their different way in things.
As you may see below, I cut a star from my rating mostly because the ending left me with many questions!

So, I gave this book 4.25 stars because I enjoyed it more than my previous 4 stars books but not as my 4.5 star books... Hahah!

Some of my favorite quotes:

"Never change Evangeline."
Her smile flashes, quick as a knife. "Of course not. Why change perfection?"

"Let them face the flood."

"Love can be exploited, I guess, used to manipulate. It's leverage. But I would never call loving someone else a weakness. I think living without love at all, any kind of love, is weakness. And the worst kind of darkness."

Fire and storm run with us, two guardians on deadly wings.

It's cruel to give hope where none should be.

"But you're with me," he whispers so low I almost don't catch it.

"I can't."
"Neither can I."
"But I also can't --"
"Neither can I."

But I want to see them again, both of them. At least once more before this war is done, ended in whatever fate. Their deaths or mine. Neither future frightens me.

"I don't like being you chess piece."
"Everyone is someone else's pawn, Mare, weather we know it or not."

"Not all crowns are worn where people can see."

Check more about the summary from Goodreads below:

VICTORY COMES AT A PRICE.
Mare Barrow learned this all too well when Cal’s betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart—and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her—Mare resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all… starting with the crown on Maven’s head.
But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal’s powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolishing everything—and everyone—in his path.
War is coming, and all Mare has fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?
In the epic conclusion to Victoria Aveyard’s stunning series, Mare must embrace her fate and summon all her power… for all will be tested, but not all will survive.
